ADMISSION TO THE MLS PROGRAM

Academic Requirements

Admission into the MLS Program requires a baccalaureate or professional degree from a department or program of approved standing and granted by an accredited college or university.

If you have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.70 or higher for all previous academic work you will be admitted as a Regular Status student.

If you have a GPA less than 2.70 you can seek admission as a Special Status student. In order to be upgraded from Special to Regular Status you must [1] submit results of the general test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), and [2] complete all three MLS Core Seminars and attain an average grade of B therein.

The Application Process

You can enter the MLS Program at either the start of the Fall or Spring semesters. Application forms are available from the Graduate School. In completing the application form please check the College of Arts and Sciences and enter MLS in the space provided for the department.

The Graduate School requires three copies of transcripts of post-secondary education. One of these transcripts must be official. The transcripts should show all academic work undertaken and all degrees granted. If you attended The University of Toledo you do not have to submit transcripts.

On the application form you should list the names of three persons who can provide a letter of reference. You should arrange to have letters of recommendation forwarded to the Graduate School. The letters should be from individuals who are capable of assessing your potential for completing a master's level academic program.

After your application has been received by the Graduate School you will be notified as quickly as possible (usually within a month) of the decision regarding your admission status.
