Comet Holmes Viewing at Brooks Observatory

Brooks Observatory will be open Monday through Thursday nights this week, October 29 through November 2, 2007, weather permitting, for members of the community to view Comet Holmes from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Comet Holmes, first discovered in the late 19th century, has recently undergone a massive and unexpected eruption. As a result, the comet has increased in brightness by almost a million times in the past week. The comet is now bright enough to be seen with the naked eye even from light polluted urban skies. Guests are asked to meet in the lobby of McMaster Hall on the ground floor. Admission is $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for children 12 and younger.

Department of Physics and Astronomy members and their guests, and night sections of astronomy classes and labs, are welcome to attend at no charge.

For more information, please contact Alex Mak at 419.530.4641.
