Scott Gleine’s Screenplay Makes the Quarter Finals
10th Annual American Screenwriting Association International Screenplay CompetitionSenior film major Scott Gleine’s screenplay Calvin and Claudius advanced to the quarterfinals of the 10th Annual American Screenwriting Association International Screenplay Competition.  Gleine was one of the 117 screenwriters advancing to the second round out of 1,700 entries.  In fact, only 2 student entries were among the 117 quarterfinalists, adding further distinction to Scott’s effort.

Calvin and Claudius, loosely described as a comedy-mystery, is about a high school student Calvin and his imaginary British friend Claudius as they inadvertently stumble upon strange occurrences at the school.

Scott GleineNo stranger to success, the 96-page script also advanced to the second round last fall in the Austin Film Festival. Ironically, Calvin and Claudius is the first and only feature-length script he has written. When asked about his post-graduate plans in light of his script’s success, a charmingly modest Gleine responded that “I would like to pursue screenwriting, but it’s a difficult field to get ahead in, so I want to keep my options open.”

Semi-finalists, Finalists and Grand Prize Winner will be announced at the 20th Annual ASA International Screenwriters Conference, held in partnership with the award winning San Diego Film Festival, September 28 -29, 2007.  Join us in wishing Scott luck!
