Required Criteria

Admission is granted to individuals showing high promise of success in graduate business study. Applicants are considered for admission on the basis of the following criteria:

  • The individual's undergraduate record - minimum GPA of 2.7/4.0
  • The individual's scores on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) - minimum total score of 450 and minimum score of 20 in verbal and 20 in quantitative.
  • The applicant's managerial, professional and leadership potential as exhibited by extracurricular activities, work and/or research experience, and community service.
  • The individual's statement of purpose describing his/her long-term goals and objectives.

Application Check List

All students applying should submit to the Graduate School, (The Graduate School, University Hall- Room 3240, The University of Toledo, Toledo, OH 43606-3390), the following documents are required:

  • A $45 non-refundable application fee. Checks should be made payable to The University of Toledo.
  • A completed application for admission from and the required statement of purpose. Individuals are strongly encouraged to type their statement of purpose on separate sheets of paper and to include these with the application. The statement of purpose must be typed, double-spaced, and have the applicant's name indicated on each page.
  • Official transcript. An original and two copies of official transcripts from each college or university attended.
  • International students must also submit the results of their TOEFL examination. Minimum score of 550 (Paper Based) or 213 (Computer Based). 
  • Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score. Test results should be no more than 5 years old. Official scores must be sent directly from the Educational Testing Service to the Graduate School. In the meanwhile, we can process your application using the unofficial copy of your scores (which you receive immediately following your test), that you can send to the MBA office or fax to us at 419-530-7260.
  • Three completed letters of recommendation.  Three letters of recommendation forms should be completed by individuals who are able to comment on your qualifications for graduate study in business. Recommendations from friends, family members, or acquaintances are unacceptable and will not be reviewed

All materials do not have to be submitted as a package, but the final decision on admission cannot be made until the package is complete.

Note: For international students additional time is required to complete immigration documents. For example, materials received after May 1 could result in a delay for a Fall admission.
