About the Department

Come THINK DEEPLY in the Department of Educational Studies! The Department's mission is to prepare and develop educational leaders and scholars to be agents of transformation on all levels of educational systems. Our graduate programs are geared towards working professionals: they are student-centered, inquiry-based, and praxis-oriented (integrating theory and practice).

ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS

  • If you want to become a building principal, superintendent, or prepare for another type of leadership; if you want to think deeply about how schools are managed, operated, or financed, come into our Educational Administration program.
  • If you want to think deeply about the intersection of culture, thinking, motivation and development in today’s society, come into our Educational Psychology program.
  • If you want to think deeply about the creation of data, effectiveness of program operation and research that impacts education on all levels, come into our Research and Measurement program
  • If you want to think deeply about social justice issues, such as how society and its institutions impact schools and how schools can create a more peaceful and just society, come into our Educational Theory and Social Foundations program.
  • If you want to think deeply about reducing violence and establishing peace and justice, come into our Peace Education program. 
  • If you want to think deeply about the application and use of technology in schools and other forms of industry, come into our Educational Technology program.
  • If you want to think deeply about higher education through multiple lenses, come into our Higher Education program.
