    Literacy Educator Training Consortium (LETC)

SUBMISSION DATE EXTENDED TO FEBRUARY 18, 2008

State-Sponsored Alternative Literacy Specialist Endorsement (LSE) Program
    Literacy Educator Training Consortium (LETC)

The Literacy Educator Training Consortium (LETC) Program is a specialized two-year professional development program in literacy education offered by a consortium of eight Ohio universities.  The purpose of the program is to prepare cohorts of Regional Literacy Consultants, School Literacy Consultants and Early Language and Literacy Consultants who will serve districts in school improvement status and early childhood centers. The Program consists of 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) that include both online coursework and a site-based internship.  Successful completion of the program fulfills requirements for a Literacy Specialist Endorsement, a state credential that is added to a current professional teaching certificate.

Applications will be accepted from interested Regional Literacy Consultants and Early Language and Literacy Consultants.  In addition, School Literacy Consultants from School Improvement Districts that have formally expressed an interest in the program to the Ohio Department of Education Office of Literacy may apply.

If you are interested in applying to the LETC Program, please use the quick links on the top left menu to successfully complete the application process.
