The Foreign Language Learning Center

General Information

The Foreign Language Learning Center (also referred to as the FLLC or Language Lab) is a media driven learning lab for the Department of Foreign Language at the University of Toledo. Located in University Hall 5150G, the learning center contains a computer lab as well as an audio/video lab. The Foreign Language Learning Center is strictly reserved for students who study a foreign language. It is tailored specifically to the needs of these students and is a great learning resource for them.

***NOTE***

Foreign language placement testing is no longer done in the Foreign Language Learning Center. Please visit the Rocket Hall Testing Center in RH1569 or call (419) 530-1269 for more information on placement testing

For information about German TV Broadcasts available click here.

The computer portion of the lab currently consists of 15 Dell computers and 15 Apple computers. Students have access to the internet and to printing facilities (black and white laser prints). The computer lab can be used for listening to digital audio for their classes, working on class projects, and general internet usage. Students may rent out foreign languages films for one day, or watch them in the lab. Students may also obtain copies of CDs that accompany textbooks free of charge if he or she provides a blank CD-R.

The lab recently added a Satellite TV viewing area. With a student ID, students can come in and reserve time to watch TV in the language of their choice/study. Currently we support a diverse array of programming in the following languages: Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, and Arabic. Students may also record future programming for later viewing on the respective DVRs as well as peruse recordings that we have already made.

Foreign language make-up tests are administered daily in the lab with no appointments needed. Students can take tests during any of the lab's normal hours providing that they bring a photo ID with them (preferably a UT student ID or government issued ID).

***NOTE***

Foreign language placement testing is no longer done in the Foreign Language Learning Center. Please visit the Rocket Hall Testing Center in RH1569 or call (419) 530-1269 for more information on placement testing.
