Participant Obligations 

Each selected participant will be obligated to

    attend pre-departure and post-travel weekned seminars to take place in Toledo and give presentations at the latter event.

    read assigned materials prior to departure and actively participate in pre-trip discussions on the program website.

    secure a valid passport, medical clearances and any required inoculations.

    pay the cost share component in a timely fashion.

    complete lesson plans.

    present community and/or school programs upon return.

    continue to be linked to individuals and organizations in Southern Africa, especially through U.S. schools and community groups

    complete a comprehensive project evaluation form.

Prior to departure for Southern Africa, all participants in the project will be asked to read several books and articles about South Africa and Lesotho. Other materials will be available through the internet. Our WebCT distance learning site will permit all participants to join interactive discussions about these readings and about preparations for the trip.
