    Recreational Therapy
What can help an individual with a cerebrovascular accident (stroke) regain cognitive functioning? How can you help a developmentally disabled child?

A recreational therapist takes a hands-on approach to healing. As a recreational therapist, your job will require you to assess a patient's needs and create a treatment plan that will best suit that individual.

Students will take courses in psychology, kinesiology, and various forms of therapy, including interventions in therapeutic art, pet therapy, horticulture therapy, therapeutic games and groups, riding therapy and others. The University of Toledo is one of the few institutions to provide clinical learning experiences. In your fourth year of this course of study, you will get valuable experience during an internship.

A bachelor's degree in recreation therapy is a great first step to the Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program offered at the University of Toledo Medical Center on the Health Science Campus.

The Recreational Therapy program has been accredited through the NRPA/AALR since 1990.
