Perseverance, A.I. and Toledo History Highlight the Carlson Conversations Lecture Series this Spring
The Carlson Conversations Lecture Series continues this spring with three lectures.
In January the University Libraries will present "The Three Lives of Philip Markowicz," a story of perseverance and survival from pre-World War II Poland to Auschwitz and finally to the United States. The lecture will be presented by David Neil and Steven Markowicz on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 3 p.m. in the Carlson Library Main Event Space.
"Code, Collage, and Critique: Exploring Creativity and Control in the Age of A.I." will be presented in conjunction with our "Digital Imagination" show, and look at the relationship between human creativity and artificial intelligence. It will examine the complex technical, political, and ethical considerations around A.I. This will be a panel lecture from three UToledo faculty, Ashley Pryor, John Sarnecki, and Ammon Allred. Join us on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. in the Carlson Library Main Event Space.
Finally, the lecture series will conclude with Doug Tracy's "Toledo's Tenderloin in the Pre-Prohibition Era" on Wednesday, April 9 at 3 p.m. in the Carlson Library Main Event Space. This lecture will look at the rich world of Toledo history and the many untold stories of the Tenderloin, Toledo's red-light district.

2nd Annual Art Student Showcase Opens in North Gallery
The University Libraries Art Student Showcase returns Monday, Nov. 4, in the Carlson
Library North Gallery, and will run through Friday, Dec. 13.
This showcase is an opportunity for undergraduate students in the University Department
of Art to showcase their work on main campus. This year's show features student work
spanning painting, photography, printmaking, and textiles.
The University Libraries has long been a supporter of student art on campus, holding
pop-up exhibits in the past, as well as a successful Experiential Learning program
resulting in murals on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors of the Carlson Library. This annual Art Student Showcase is the newest way
for the library to continue that partnership and continue to build the connection
between the main campus and art school campus.
Employee Art Exhibtion Highlights Staffs' Hidden Talents
The Annual UToledo Employee Art Exhibition runs Monday, Oct. 28 through Friday, Dec.
13 in the Carlson Library South Gallery.

pursuits, the show will feature 18 artists from various colleges and departments at
the University including the University Libraries, UTPD, Department of Medicine, Department
of Communications and Media, Honors, Office of Legal Affairs, and many more.
